Brian Hensley is an experienced executive leader who helps organizations navigate growth, complexity, and transformation through disciplined operations, modern technology, and people-centered leadership. With more than 25 years of experience as a technology and operational leader, Brian brings hands-on executive leadership to organizations that need clarity, execution, and results—without the cost or risk of a full-time hire.
Brian’s leadership philosophy is deeply rooted in his upbringing. He grew up on a farm in western Maryland, where responsibility, work ethic, and accountability were not optional. Coming from a family of veterans—his father (Vietnam) and grandfather (WW2 – Omaha Beach) both served—Brian developed a strong respect for service, teamwork, and doing things the right way, even when it’s hard. He put himself through college, earning both a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Towson University and an MBA with a specialization in Management Information Systems from the University of Baltimore.
While still in graduate school, Brian co-founded a web development business, gaining early exposure to entrepreneurship, client delivery, and the realities of building sustainable businesses. During that time, he built the first public website for the University of Baltimore’s Merrick School of Business—an early signal of the intersection between business strategy and technology that would define his career.
Professionally, Brian has been a leader in organizations across healthcare, government contracting, manufacturing, software development, education, and other regulated industries. He has held senior executive roles with responsibility for operations, technology, security, finance, HR, and delivery teams of more than 150 professionals. His work includes leading major business turnarounds, improving organizational efficiency, strengthening security and compliance, and aligning technology investments to measurable business outcomes.
Among his most notable accomplishments, Brian has led organizations through significant revenue growth, reduced employee turnover to industry-leading levels, and delivered multi-year technology and operational roadmaps supporting long-term scalability. He has helped to guide companies through SOC 2 and SOX compliance, enterprise cloud migrations with disaster recovery, and significant improvements to software delivery performance.
Brian is also recognized as an early adopter and advocate of Agile practices. In 2010—well before Agile became mainstream— in partnership with other leaders he introduced Scrum and Kanban into a large organization, leading a cultural and operational transformation that dramatically improved productivity, transparency, and time to value. Today, those practices are considered industry best practice, and Brian continues to apply their principles pragmatically across both technical and non-technical teams.
At the core of Brian’s approach is a belief in servant leadership: investing in people, creating clarity, and holding teams accountable to high standards. His leadership has consistently resulted in stronger cultures, higher engagement, improved execution, and better financial performance.
Brian is a lifelong Maryland resident and lives in White Marsh, MD. He has two sons, one studying aerospace engineering at Boulder University. Outside of work, he is an avid snowboarder and remains grounded in the values that shaped him early on—hard work, integrity, and a commitment to leaving organizations stronger than he found them.
